Our Covenant
On Sunday 3rd December, 2000 AD our church had a day of prayer and
fasting. The culmination of this day was a recital of the following
covenant. The original document has been signed by every regular
attender of our church...
We all stand as 'Living Stones' before the Lord and humbly promise
to submit ourselves in obedience, first to our Lord Jesus Christ and
then to one another according to God's will, in a new Church
Covenant.
We promise to dedicate ourselves to His service, trusting Him to
build us into a spiritual body, made holy and pleasing to Him
through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, head of the Church, who saved
us and gave us new life.
We promise that as He is our God, we will be His people, through
good times and bad, accepting His promise to give us hope and a
future as we seek Him with all our hearts.
We recognise that we can do nothing by our own strength and ability,
but are totally dependent upon the grace and gifts of God.
We therefore promise to seek the empowering and gifts of His Holy
Spirit in order to fulfil His commission to preach Good News to the
poor, proclaim freedom to the captives, recovery of sight to the
blind and release for the oppressed.
To the glory of God. Amen.
Come Lord Jesus!
