IMPACT!
Due to swelling numbers, our IMPACT youth group now meets over two evenings:
- Sunday evenings from 7.30-9.30pm - School year 13+
- Monday evenings from 7-9pm - School year 11-13
The work is coordinated by our ecumenical youth worker, Louise Rose, who leads a hardy bunch of leaders and helpers. Louise is funded jointly by the three churches in Linton: St Mary's (Anglican), Linton Free Church (URC) and Cornerstone Community Church (Independent Evangelical)
Soul Survivor - August 2007
This Summer the Linton Churches Together youth project took 26 young people away to Soul Survivor, a Christian youth camp held in Somerset. We joined with around 12,000 other young people for 5 very exciting and life changing days. Over 1,000 young people gave their lives to Jesus during our 5 day stay and we have recently heard that numbers exceeding that made a commitment to the Christian faith during the final week.
Each day the young people enjoyed two main meetings that everyone is encouraged to attend. The main focus of these meetings is worship: they spend time in the Lord's presence, praising Him and receiving from Him. It is so faith building to worship the Lord with 12,000 other young people.
Many of our young people also attended different seminars throughout the week, ranging from straightforward bible teaching to drama and music workshops. In the evenings a wide variety of social events were available including several cafes, dancing the night away at Mr Boogies nightclub, watching Christian bands in the Gigs aea or enjoying continued sessions of worship and teaching.
Here is what some of our young people had to say about their time at Soul Survivor this year:
"When I am at Soul Survivor I feel so in God's presence, I feel comfortable worshipping the Lord during worship as there are thousands doing this also. Soul Survivor is, and always will be the highlight of my year!" NT
"I really enjoyed Soul Survivor this year. I was touched by God a lot in amazing ways! He spoke to me about His love for me and my plans for the future and gave me such hope for being able to experience Him in the same way at home. The leaders were all incredibly supportive and it was so encouraging to know that there were people back home praying for us all!" JW
"Soul Survivor was great because I met loads of people who were like a big family. There was loads to do and no time when I was bored. I wasn't really sure about the whole Christian thing before, but when I went I was sure it was the thing for me." SB
"At Soul Survivor everyone was so nice! You could just walk up to anyone and they would talk to you like you have known them for years. I really experienced God and realised how amazing He is. Worship songs weren't bad either!" GB
We want to say a huge than you to all the leaders who came to Soul Survivor and gave of their time and energy so generously. And an extra special thank you to Will and Janet Crowhurst who came and cooked for all 34 of us on a couple of gas rings. With God all things are possible! Their servant heart blessed us all so much.
God bless,
Adrian and Louise Rose.
